Constructed as a retreat from Rome for Roman Emperor Hadrian, Hadrian’s Villa – Villa Adriana – is a complex of over 30 buildings and the greatest Roman example of an Alexandrian garden, recreating a sacred landscape, including palaces, thermae, a theatre, temples, libraries, state rooms, and quarters for courtiers, praetorians, and slaves.
Just minutes away from Rome city centre, it can be easily reached and visited together with the nearby Villa D’Este.
